Semi-Automatic Versus Automatic Label Applicator: Differences Between Them
According to the names, it goes without say that the automatic label applicator will be faster compared to the semi-automatic one. It is worth noting that there are other differences of the two label applicators apart from speed. When selecting the bet machine for you, you should consider the design of the machine, the types of packages you want to label, the types of labels you use and the speed of your lie of production. Although both machines have automatic label application, the differ in how they are activated and loaded. A semiautomatic applicator is used in applying labels to lined up containers.
Hand-loading the machine is done for small batches of small products, fast labeling is achieved by incorporating it in your production line. The machine is triggered by a connected machine or a switch operated by an employer to apply the label. On the other hand, automatic applicators will have a system for positioning the containers to be labeled. There are automatic machines with the ability of repositioning the container severally for application of many labels. Compared to automatic label applicators which cost tens of thousands, semi-automatic machines are less cheaper. With the semi-automatic, you will need to employ a worker to operate the machine, hence increased operation costs. Fully automated applicators require minimal human intervention apart from calibration. Semi-automatic label applicators do not have package flexibility because they are constrained to one container type such as either oval or rectangular. The models for labeling various containers like wine bottles, cosmetic containers and e-liquid bottles are available.
Less time will be taken to set up if the machine is more specialized. You will be allowed to change container sizes and shapes on the line of production if you use automatic machines because they accommodate various products. Configuring the machine for different containers and label will take some time. Only one label can be applied by a semi-automatic machine; this is their design. Multiple label application can be done if you come up with clever spool design.
However, the added positioning will lead to an increased rate of labeling errors. The machine is fitted with sensors responsible for detecting the label position. For plastic, foil and paper labels, light sensors will work. You should not base your selection between the two designs on their speed. You may find some types semi-automatic applicators that will work at the same rate as automatic machines. For high-speed production requirements, automatic applicators are used. What will determine the application rate in semi-automatic machines is the container type and label size.
